Moving to WPEngine is now Easier

Last month WPEngine announced a new tool/plugin to make moving to WPEngine even easier. A few months ago I moved this domain to GoDaddy Managed Hosting. No complaints there. Just for me WPEngine works better for all the sites I have there at this time.

When I decided to move this domain back today I used their plugin to move the site back. It was simple and easy.

Step 1: Install plugin. You can get the plugin from your Dashboard by search for it. Or you can download directly from WPEngine and then upload it to you where your current install is

Step 2: Activate and run plugin

Step 3: Fill in the details as provided by WPEngine for the migration

Step 4: Click the Migrate button and wait

Step 5: Update your DNS ‘A’ record to point at the new IP that WPEngine has given you for your install

Step 6: Add domain to “domains” list for you install

Step 7: Go to WordPress Dashboard->Settings->General to update your domain/url settings back to what they were on your site

Step 8: Wait for DNS to replicate around the world (2-24 hours)

Step 9: Get back to blogging

Here is a post from WPEngine with a video tut about the plugin.
