We are Raising a Child with ChatGPT

I was listing to a podcast (Marketing against the Grain) and it reminded me that not only has ChatGPT3 been trained on 175 billion parameters, we are also training it by using it.

We are training a child

I asked Chat GPT the following:

“I  heard that our chats are helping train ChatGPT, i think this is neat. I wonder if everyone doing this is also learning how to speak to the machine so that eventually we can teach robots or robotic machines the proper way to perform a task. Similar to how you would teach a child to not stick their hand on a gas stove, or how to lift a heavy box properly w/o injuring ones self. What do you think?”

It responded:

“Yes, that is correct. Our conversations are helping train ChatGPT to understand and respond to a wide range of human language inputs. This can be useful in many areas such as natural language processing, language translation, and human-robot interactions. By training the model with a diverse set of human inputs, it can better understand and respond to the nuances and complexities of human language. However, it’s important to note that teaching robots to perform tasks safely and effectively also involves other areas of expertise, such as robotics and machine learning.”

I then replied with:

“Yes, we need those who have the expertise in robotics and machine learning. I’m looking at this in the pure human to machine interaction. I think of this as rosie the robot from jetsons or the boy robot from the 2001 move A.I. I cant wait to see where you take this training”

It responded:

“Human-machine interaction is a rapidly growing field, and there are many exciting developments happening in this area. With the help of natural language processing, we are making progress in making human-machine interactions more natural and intuitive. By training models like ChatGPT with a wide range of human inputs, we can improve the ability of machines to understand and respond to human language in a more human-like way.

It’s worth noting that while training models like ChatGPT can improve human-machine interactions, there are also many other factors that go into creating a truly human-like robot, such as developing advanced robotics technology, and research on human-like cognitive abilities. It’s a complex field with multiple area of expertise involved, but the potential for creating more natural and intuitive human-machine interactions is definitely there.”

The next 10 years are going to be wild with A.I.
