To make this box I carved a 12″x3″ piece of Peruvian walnut with the floating skulls design. They are called floating because the design has a flowing water pattern in it.<\/p>\n
After creating the carving I made a box from Southern Yellow Pine to inset the skull panel into the top of the box and then a piece of 1\/4″ ply for the bottom of the box. Before assembly and glue up the wood received a torched shousugi ban inspired effect.<\/p>\n
The inside of the box measures a little under 12″x3″ and the outside of the box is 13″(l) x 4″(w) x 4″(h)<\/p>\n
